Yesterday, I took the kids over to the local park to do some practicing in the evening sunlight, and to have some fun taking pictures. These were some of my favorite images from the mock session we did. A fellow photographer was kind enough to let us borrow her couch while she was waiting on her client to arrive. I wish I could convince my kids to wear more appropriate shoes, but getting them to agree to take pictures of them can sometimes be a chore, so I compromise, sometimes… The things we moms do.
Thanks for looking!
This is a family have known for a long time. I photographed the youngest daughter’s newborn portraits about four and a half years ago, along with her first birthday. This time, I had the pleasure of photographing the oldest two as well as the youngest. I love watching families grow as I photograph them through out the years, documenting memories for them.
Thank you again Christie, for allowing me to photograph your beautiful family again! I look forward to the next time I get to work with your family.
This weeks challenge on I heart Faces is “Enjoying Life”. It’s been a while since I have participated in a challenge, so I went out with my daughter this evening, and this is what she wanted to do to show herself enjoying life. I just LOVE the expression on her face! She does have a gusto for life and I hope she never loses it!
Texas is very proud of their state flower, the Bluebonnet. These beauties grow along highways and in parks thanks to former First Lady, Lady Bird Johnson. They grow quite easily here and people have them in their yards. And, yes, Texans are crazy and take their pictures in the bluebonnet fields around. Some are even crazy enough to take them along the interstates! Not I, my friend. I was fortunate to find an empty lot in a friends neighborhood, where they covered the entire area. They were beautiful this year! It was such a treat after last year when they were scarce because of the drought. My daughter was all about posing this session, and wanted to try some interesting ones. We had fun and got some great shots! This is a tradition here, and I am proud to say that I have gotten the kids in the bluebonnets every year for the past 7 years! I plan on keeping the tradition as long as I can.

It is 2012 now. Hard to believe another year has flown by. I wanted to ring in the new year with a simple photo shoot, just to say I did. So, this is what I came up with. Rather simple, and I love that! I think I try too hard sometimes, and I need to remind myself to keep it simple. It’s fun to see what I can come up with, with a small amount of styling. So, here is what I came up with. I didn’t want it to be too “New Years”-y, I wanted it to be subtle. I hope you enjoy these images, and blessings to you and your family in the new year!
And below was the official one I posted to Facebook and Google+. I will be putting that one in their books for sure. Just love how it came out.
I so love the beach, and I love my children. I also love photography. Since being on Christmas break, I decided to play with some old images and make them something new. This is an image from this past summer of my daughter on the beach. I had a lot of fun adding textures and overlays to enhance the mood of the image. I love how it came out. I actually loved two way, both with completely different feels. I am not sure which one is my favorite. Which one is yours?
A week or so ago, our family ventured out to the Fort Worth Wildlife Refuge and Nature Center. This little gem has lots to offer! There are some great hiking trails if you are up to that. With little kids, we didn’t do too much of it, though, I think we could have done more. Wildlife, including buffalo and prairie dogs are “roaming” the park. Meaning, they are fenced in and you can see them if you are lucky. The prairie dog has long been a family favorite since our visit to South Dakota a couple years ago, so it was fun seeing the little critters again. I let me daughter borrow my other camera to take pictures at her whim. She had lots of fun and took some decent pictures too! We saw a lot of deer while driving through the park, and we each got a decent picture of one. It was a beautiful day, and I am so glad I got to spend it with my family enjoying the great out doors!
And here are a few of my daughter’s pictures she took. I think she did a great job! And she had so much fun using mommy’s camera.
